Half of British adults don't know what a charity trustee is

New research from the charity Getting on Board has discovered that surveyed 2012 people found that 51% of respondents didn't know what a charity trustee is.

Getting on Board promotes board-level volunteering and conducted online interviews with over 2000 people in the UK. Its research also discovered that 21% would like to sit on the board of a charity, but only 12% said that they would be interested in becoming a charity trustee.

Dame Suzi Leather, chair of the Charity Commission, said: "Clearly the charity sector needs to do more to explain what a charity trustee is so that people realise what a fantastic opportunity it can be to make a real difference. Trustees are the driving force behind every great charity and are responsible for making decisions about a charity's direction and activity."
