Estate Agents can now re-open
Whilst the sun may not be shining today there is certainly a spring in the steps of our Residential Team following the news. From today, Estate Agents can re-open and viewings can be carried out as well as removal firms being able to operate again. It is hoped these measures will get the housing market back on track.
It is estimated that there are about 450,000 buyers and renters who have had to put their plans on hold since the start of lock down and therefore, with the relaxing of the rules, this will bring some comfort for those who are looking to press ahead. For our part, the team at Whitehead Monckton have been continually working on transactions throughout this period to ensure that the momentum is not lost and that all our clients are ready to hit the go button as soon as they are able.
Senior Residential Property Specialist Debbie Tree said “We have been up an running and are ready to go as the “NEW NORMAL” kicks into place. We can be very positive in assuring clients that we have everything in place to provide and equip you in achieving a very efficient and speedy transaction. We provide a first class service and work effectively with your Estate Agents as they adapt to the new ways in which they will operate. Our offices and staff are fully able to conform with all social distancing measures so your safety is not in any way compromised together with our up to the minute IT systems all on hand to ensure your transaction is handled efficiently and cost effectively.
We are very excited as a firm as this new chapter in property transactions leaps into play and would be delighted to assist and help in any way we can, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”
Associate Solicitor and Head of Residential Property team, Sadie Webb added “We have continued to provide our clients with legal services during the “lockdown” and have been able to progress conveyancing transactions during this period. However, the reopening of estate agents and removal companies is welcome news for us, as a team, as we will now be able to formally complete those matters that had been paused since the Prime Minister announced the lockdown in March. We will be working together with our clients and the estate agents to ensure that the paused transactions reach a successful conclusion. I am also optimistic that the property market will bounce back from its rapid and complete shutdown and I am certainly looking forward to business resuming to normal!”
With the news regarding the UK economy’s slowing pace, it will be interesting to see what happens to the UK housing market. Agents seem confident that the public will still want to move and that lock down has sparked interest for those people who have been confined to their homes to look around at what is available on the market. It is forecasted that this will bring an increase in people looking into new areas, particularly those home owners in London who are wishing to make the move out of the City into the home counties. With the likelihood of working from home being extended we may see changes in the way people buy houses moving forward, Rather than tube line links it may well be broadband speeds!
